People stretch it because of the poke and stretch revolution........?? not into that myself but whatever. Choices in 16" have been getting slim for the last few years. Even the most basic ford focus or Toyota corolla now comes from the factory with 17" wheels.
That seems to be the case. I even thought about going 17", but I think they look a tad big on the e30.

That is what I am finding. Do you happen to have any pictures of your setup?
It seems there is no proper sized tire for a 16x8 and 16x9 setup or 16x8.5 and 16x9.5. You cannot get a matching diameter.
For instance, you can find a 205/45/16 (23.3" diameter), but no matching 235/40/16 (23.4" diameter)
Is this why everyone stretches the hell out of their tires?
