    E30 Roof Racks

Yakima or Thule, which is better?

Or is there another better brand?

Where's the best place to buy 'em? What parts do I need to order?

    Thanks!

I have a set of Thule. Mount to the rain rails. Work well for my snowboards and canoe when I had them on my old car

whichever you can find cheaper, they're both quality. personally I have a thule system which I use on the company car, I prefer the square bars to yakima's round. Round bars can be nice if you have something like a kayak holder, you can just rotate it down to fit in your garage.

Don't know any distributor in germany, around here I bought a couple of the components at REI. Ebay has tons. For a thule system, go to the webpage and it will tell you what "feet", fitkit (if neccessary), length of bars, etc. Punch those numbers in ebay, and start bidding.

Yakima is my personal favorite, but I have used Thule also.

And the best part is that the two brands are now compatible. I have Yakima for my vans and Thule for the BMW and I swap bike carriers back and forth all the time.
