Hello everyone, I have a 1987 e30 325 2.7L. I recently purchased a new O2 sensor because of an engine code I received. I removed the old O2 near the manifold and I come to find out that there is not plug for the new O2 sensor to connect to, its just 4 wires that were not even soldered ton the old O2 sensor. They were just twisted and taped. I am not sure who did this job but it looks like a mess. I don't know if I should cut the connection part off the new O2 to expose the 4 wires then soldering them to the exposed wires from the car or if I should search for the connection online for the new o2 to plug into. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks guys feel free to message me.

You have the wrong sensor for your car.
You need a two wires sensor. The four wire sensors are electrically heated.
In your case, you could find the two wires for the signal, and splice a connector from your old sensor.Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Do some research on the forum first. This has been covered many times over.
There is a Bosch Mustang Sensor that can be used and is cheap and easy to install. You will need to splice the two wires to the existing harness that runs up to the engine bay. The wire runs under the heatshield on the passenger side and up to the engine bay on the passenger side. You will need to splice the new sensor to the old harness. Use butt splices not solder as the heat from soldering can damage the o2 sensor.
I used a Bosch Oxygen Sensor (Mustang) 13913 on my ETA and spliced the wires onto the connector. Do a waffleswaffleswaffles search next time before asking dumb questions and post in the right section. (General Technical)
