    Raffling away a 1988 325ix

Hello! My gfs father has an '88 325ix with 103k. There has been over $9k in maintenance receipts in the past two years getting this car running as mechanically perfect as possible. He got it in someones will and wanted to make it a gem. I also have a fundraiser on 3/13 because the day before Thanksgiving I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and medical bills suck. I was thinking that we could do a raffle for the car, and half the proceeds go to my g/fs dad for the car and half goes to my medical bills. I'm thinking we can do $100 for a raffle ticket and would need about 80 people to join the raffle for this to work out. Please give me your input.

Hey, fellow Marist grad here. Sorry to hear about your situation. It's an interesting idea, though I think your biggest hurdle will be setting up a system whereby people aren't concerned about their "ticket money." I don't have a suggestion at the moment, but I do hope it works out and helps you take the load off some.

Also, the Facebook link isn't working. I'd suggest putting pictures on a hosting site like photobucket and embedding them here.

Sorry OP, but there's been far too many ppl. fleecing members of this board out of parts and money. You need to set up something more reputable so members of this site are not concerned that their money is just being funneled into you personal account with no raffle results.

      Just my .02 cents
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

I would be careful. There are lots of laws around raffles. Don't set it up right and you've made yourself and illegal lottery.

Can't do a raffle for any kind of profit.

Thank you for the replies and kind words. I think I'm just going to put the car up for sale on here and see what happens! Have a happy Valentine's Day everyone!
