R3V not the place it used to be

I've enjoyed, for the most part, working on family and friend owned E30's for 7 or 8 years now. Always meeting great people who I was very happy to do business with. Owen from Burien, a couple of Spec guys and a particular seller from Anacortes come to mind. Then last week, and a seller who is parting his friend's 325ix here in the great PNW. He committed to a price for a few relatively rare parts and that they would be ready this last weekend. And then 'forgot' about me. Where I come from, commitments used to mean something you could trust. Hopefully this was a rare happening, but I can't help but feel the quality of this forum's members have gone down. Not going to name him but do hope there is such a thing as Karma, and that it bites him hard some day...

Might as well have said a name, with the riddle you left it took all of 2 seconds to connect the dots:

I imagine the guy had a lot going on from the looks of it. There's a difference between a deal falling through and ripping someone off.

I do agree, if you make a deal you should stick with it even if a better offer comes around. That said, as the old saying goes, never count your chickens before they hatch.

Suck it up, buttercup. No reason to throw in the towel because a deal fell through.

Not about to throw in the towel, just wanted to express an opinion. The antennae was a stock and factory E30 one, thanks. Anyone have a good lsd diff in a proper ratio for a stroker plz pm me, goes the same for an antennae, if reasonably priced.

you seem a little too salty for someone who only verbally committed to a deal and was then forgotten about.

its not like you sent him money and he shipped your stuff a 1000 miles away from you. and then ignored you and eventually left you no choice but to drive to where they were shipped to pick them up.

          cough cough...

Sorry J. Rizo but I don't get your point at all. Merely stating the integrity of sellers seems to have gone down from years past. Don't get the whole 1000 miles thing at all...

You must not pay much attention to this community... There are always going to be assholes, but the real pieces of work get dealt with accordingly. You are overreacting.

True I'm no longer here too often, and I wouldn't even call the seller an asshole. At all. Again, just wanted to state an opinion.

Did you send him money? If not, then the deal wasn't done. Verbal commitments are great, but money talks. If you gave him money and he sold to someone else then you've got an issue, but verbal commitments often leave sellers with no shows and tire kickers. Having sold on this forum, bf.c, and e30tech for over 10 years I can tell you that it gets old quick. If someone puts money in my hand that's the guy who gets the parts. It's a bit more cutthroat I guess, but it protects you from turning down people with money because someone else told you they would buy.

I don't know the exact details as you were probably purposely vague in your OP, but it seems as though you are overreacting here.

While there will always be a revolving door of members due to the nature of car ownership, you can't say the entire forum is suffering based on one bunk deal. I've been doing deals on craigslist for years now and being forgotten is part of the game. Most of the time it works but sometimes you can't get attached and you have to move on. Though it is very frustrating when that shit happens.

And based on the detail and vocabulary of that guy's first post... I would give him a break

I hate when buyer ask for my paypal and paid me 10 days later without mentioning it to me. When did happen, I just send their money back and comment, "I see that you're back from the moon? Sorry, I have already sold the item to someone else."

In this case, the buyer have no right to be butt hurt.

simon, a member on here, recently got really fucked on a 300 dollar purchase. that's the ordeal I was describing. he had the right to create a thread, and his actually had a purpose; to call out the seller and get the parts he PAID for.

but you're just kind of crying over someone taking cash instead of your "dibs".

this should've been a post in the nonsense thread, not an entire new thread. I get you're just stating an opinion, but c'mon, let's not waste bandwidth...

As a buyer you have to continue the communication until the sale, he probably "forgot about you" because you stopped talking to him and letting him know you are definitely picking up the parts. As others have said, money talks.

And to judge a whole community based off one transaction between you and one member is unreasonable.
