How far back did the fire get in the engine compartment. If it just stayed near the front, you may be able to just cut out the affected sheet metal and get the car back together..

Wow man that's rough. I absolutely understand how youre feeling about the work put in and how much of a release a nice car can be. Most people here would probably agree. Glad you got out before anything worse could have happened to you.

Do it dude I bought one and idk why I didn't throw it in there before hand.

It's one of those things I never thought would just happen. And boom within 10 minutes all of the time at work I spent to save for the car, all the time working on it, all the time shagging parts, gone. The $, gone. I've been handling it well I think then it gets me and it just hurts emotionally so so so so bad. It's this crushing feeling of sadness and dissapointment and frustration and disbelief and it's just tearing me apart. Idk about you guys but the e30 was my anchor. It was my drive (no pun intended). "Well shit I need to put the new dif in it, it's time to get out of bed!" Even though working on it sucked sometimes, life is going to be considerably worse without a car to wrench on. I don't even know what to do about it. I have no hobby now.

shit is sappy but the truth. There are always other cars but considering how much time we dedicate to them it would be dumb (use me as an example) to not have a fire extinguisher in the car.

Just yesterday Mighty Car Mods did a video on how to install a fire extinguisher, timely.

Hope you can get some of the money back from the car & hope it had comp coverage!

Damn man, that sucks. My dads 325is caught on fire last year, but luckily we were able to put it out before it got out of control.

I lost my first car to a fire. It's a dramatic way to go but always leaves you wondering how it happened.

Anyway sorry for your loss. Your car was cool too! And you'd just put those wheels on it! But you can make some money selling parts off it. If the interior doesn't smell like burnt rubber your seats and panels would be worth something too. Also.. I want your rear bumper! I can come up and help you go through the car. I have some time tomorrow

I might. All I did was delete the c191 and used snap connectors- that's why my car wouldn't start after the swap. I def have a pic in my build thread, it was one side of it. I lengthened the wires and added snap connectors. Today I re taped everything and it was sealed

Let's say that was the cause- how could that have ignited something?

It sounded like a hose or a gasket went and something set it on fire.
