i don't know the internals of the m6X engines that well but I've always wondered if that would work. m60's are awesome my first bmw was an 1995 e38 that had a m60b40 in it because it was the e32/e38 crossover year. had dinan engine and trnny chip to, i loved that beast.
    i love bmws

I have not actually done it, but if you have a non-vanos m62, then all the timing components will swap over and effectively make a bullet-proof m62. I was planning on doing an m60b44 for the claptrap in my sig. That keeps he motor OBDI but bumps the displacement.

man that would make for a really cool v8. i really love the m62 beside the guides issue. my first four cars were in order : 95 740, 02 540/6, 97 740, 99 540i/6. then i went to i6 after the 99's head and guides failed

Update time: I have worked out a deal with the guy for $1,100. I pick the car up tomorrow and trailer it home. The car is pretty clean. I will walk from it if it isn't clean or adjust the offer.

The guy has 19 cars, almost all of them BMWs. Big collector it seems.

            Issues with the car are:
            • Random stalling issue when warm
            • Clear coat fade on the passenger side roof and down to the rear quarter
            • Leaky exhaust at the catalytic converter that is preventing smog

When he heard of the plans I have he thought it was cool as hell throwing a 6 speed into it. He about went down and bought a new MAF sensor since that might be the issue with the random cutoff. I am pretty sure its electrical and I read that the MAF sensor can cause this problem. Good thing I have a donor car...

            Pics will arrive Saturday evening.

EDIT: The color is Orient Blue

The car would be a lateral move so I passed on it.
