    Yo eta guys;gas mileage?

I have an 87 eta and i am getting very poor gas mileage. i have wrote in before for some advice on what the culprit may be. so far i have changed the o2 sensor and the coolant temp. sensor. after i put the new coolant temp. sensor i am getting even poorer gas mileage. 230 miles per tank. Do you guys have any ideas? What kind of gas mileage do you eta guys get per tank.

Depends on driving habits. I just bought my eta and am down to the second to last dash and have like 250 on the tank so far. I'm expecting like 22mpg .. but i drove it pretty damn hard this weekend... alot of hard acceleration.. So i'm probably looking at like 28mpg on the highway going around 60-65mph...

If i'd be lucky i could get 30mpg on the highway doing 55mph... Does your car smell rich? if so, check your fuel pressure regulator.. replace your fuel filter...

Mine is pretty well maintained, as far as normal maintenance. 86 325es.
Street, I usually get about 23-26. Highway, going 80 most of the time, I get 30mpg, no shit.

does the 87 eta still have a cold start injector? it doesnt does it. I was gunna say if it does check it for leakage when the fuel system is pressurized. actually couldnt it be any of the injectors? maybe pull them and see if theyre closing properly and not leakin constantly
hows your air filter? i dont think thatd make much difference but if its dirty your gas milage might suffer a bit.

my 84 eta is getting like 575kms per tank city driving thats what 359 miles? holy shit i never realized, thats pretty good! umm so my tank is 55 litres thats 13.4 gal so about 27 mpg. not that great actually but not bad either.

I have an 87 eta and i DO have a cold start valve... I just checked my gas mileage today after filling up for the first time since i bought my car...

10.5 gallons at 277 miles which is around 26mpg... FYI, i drove it really hard this weekend, so i'm looking at over 30 highway with easy sunday driving habits.

I would have thought the etas get better gas mileage. I have an is and get 29-30 mpgs on the highway doing 75-80 and 25 mpgs when i drive around the city.

Wasn't the point of the eta to be more fuel efficient?

check the air filter? Tire pressure? What rpm do you shift at?

The advantage of the eta is shifting and driving at a low rpm. Doing 70 in fifth gear puts me just above 2000 quiet rpms. I would bet that if somebody were to compare an eta and 325i with controlled variables and all that garbage, I bet the eta would still be more efficient, but probably not by very much.

My Dad gave me an '96 F0*d Escort wagon. Auto, A/C, POS. Shiny clean POS, but nevertheless...the fucker got like 20MPG with the A/C off!

Why the fuck would anyone make an embarassing car that looks cheap, is uncomfortable, handles like ass, is SLOW and STILL not have good gas mileage?

WTF, yo. At least eta's look good! (or can, anyway)

I wonder how the hell you drive because my "i" only manages ~19mpg. So the ETA is impressive to me, especially for that time. I wouldn't mind looking into getting one of those to be my primary DD, but my bike gets twice the mpg my 325i gets, so that makes up for the bad gas mileage. :D

Getting 30mpg in a 325iS is very unrealistic. I don't know about that. 30mpg on an eta is more likely.

ldsbeaker is right no the money with his gas mileage. That is the exact same on my 325e. For someone to get the same if not better mileage in a 325i which revs higher. just doesn't make sense.

I thought ETAs got better mileage than that?? I get between 20-25 with really hard driving in my "is"... What MPG are ETA's supposed to get...

I'm glad that I picked up this old civic for my DD though...almost 40mpg!!!!

My car is an auto. But i had an 85 325e man. and it was getting better gas mileage than my auto. So far i have replaced the o2 sensor and the coolant temp. sensor and the air filter. on the way is gas filter and FPR. i hope this does the trick.
