    M20 throttle response

Does anyone else with an M20 notice a shitty throttle response from idle? there is a very noticeable delay in when i stab the gas and the revs hop at low RPM's...in my car at least!

Yes, but I have an eta. It seems to be that way in most cars though!

have you checked the slack in the throttle cable? there should be adjustment on the throttle body, try tightening that up, might help a bit

ok good, i was hoping i didnt have a huge vacuum leak somwhere...i wonder if a lightwheel flywheel would eliminate a lot of that...and maybe a not so damn restrictive exhaust

even our 1992 4.0 manual Cherokee has better response off the low end...maybe a MAF would help

It's the AFM that causes such shitty throttle response. A MAF would greatly improve it.

If I go WOT from zero, my car will take a second to reach 1k rpms and then take off. I assume we have the same problem. Time for a MAF then :P

Its one of the "gifts" of the AFM, my s14 does it as well. I want a MAF for this reason alone.

I have the same problem, probably worst than you, the damm AFM is the problem I think, it's a bit difficult to tune.

I wonder if the flywheel will elimante this too...but someone told me not get a light Flywheel when you have a turbo, don't remember the problem.

Can't wait to put my MAF and tune it with the SMT6 , hope with this will elimanate this problem

Also, I found from what I tested, the Euros M20 has more Throttle response than US bimmers, with the same M20, why? probably and from what I know is for the higher CR, I'm not so sure if the Euro has higher CR but I'm pretty sure is the main fact.

the euros cars dont have cats either, might have an effect on response.

btw- diego your problem is that turbo haha

Hmm, all my AFM equipped cars have great throttle response. Don't blame the AFM. You likely have some other deficiency. It's amazing how better a car with 150-200k runs when you actually replace some of the wear items in the ignition and fuel systems.

I tell you this cuz...I have that problem before putting the turbo,( I bought the car with that crappy response already) so no lag or kind of...

Second, CAT or No CAT doesn't affect any shitt in that, why? CUz I took off the CAT when I bought the car...I have free flow exahust(Nod amm regulations here, I love this) and didn't notice almos any gain, niether in the Throttle response... ;)
