Shipping a getrag 260?

someone wants to buy a tranny from me. Curious what the best route would be. I was thinking take it to R+L Carriers and let them put it on a pallet and ship it, but the guy was saying hes received a trans in a rubbermaid container before

I've used a container for a cyl head before, but it broke and damaged the head. this may be though because we decided once it was packed up to try and fit the manifold in there too

anyone have any recommendations? also, anyone know the dimensions and weight of a getrag 260? (mine is in a garage I rent which is a bit of a trek away)

I've shipped 3 in Rubbermaid containers. I fill the thing with a fuckload of crumpled newspaper, and I mean I FILL the thing. The tranny is heavy enough that it's going to squash it all down. Place the tranny inside, then put the lid on. Drill holes all the way around the lid through the lid and the container itself, and put a zip tie through each of them. Get a roll of palette wrap, and completely wrap it in that, and then seal it up with tape. You should be able to ship it VIA FedEx Ground no problem.

do you know the weight of hte tranny? don't really have a way to weigh it.
