    Will this Diff Work?

    Will a 410 lsd from an '85 318is work in an '89 325i?

it will fit, the axel flanges will probably be different but thats the least of your worries..

the torque of the 2.5 will fuck up the small case diff...it fits, but not recomended

Is the case smaller than what I have on the car now? Stock 373 open diff.

yes, all of the 6 cylinder engines (except maybe some grey market euro) got the big case diff. You have a big case diff in your car now.

There was no 318iS in 85. 318i only.

Either way, both the 318i and 318iS used a small case diff. While the flanges are the same, and the entire unit can be swapped, it is not a good idea to swap a small case diff into a m20 e30. It will destroy the diff with the extra power.

Yes it was designed for lighter weight cars and less torque of the smaller 4 cylinders.
