BMW Hybrid? Anyone heard?

i was wondering if anyone could confirm a rumor i heard

i was told that bmw's answer to the hybrid craze was to use exhaust heat to power a steam engine, or something along the lines of that

this sounds insane to me, but i mean leave it to bmw to come up with something new and crazy different

i dont know if this is just an idea they're throwing around, or if its actually going into production or what, or if this is just complete BS

anyone heard anything about this to confirm?

haven't heard any rumors like that. who told you that one? sounds like internet garbage.
i think bmw is sinking all their r&d money into hydrogen fuel cells and clean diesels. personally, i think they should develop a car that runs on ground up wiggers.

i know BMW has a hydrogen engine that only Europe will see (big surprise there) by about 2008. the US will get a diesel engine in place of Hydrogen. but as far as a hybrid, i'm not too sure about that one.

Yeah, BMW has a fleet of hydrogen powered 7-series in europe. I'm not sure if the project is making good progress though. We'll see.

from reading that article, it sounds like its not so much a hybrid but more something that can be placed on any car, or at least any bmw

if this is true, why havent they done anything with it?
with gas prices and the whole hybrid craze, why not sell it as a kit to turn any car into a semi-hybrid?
