How much does the V8 weigh? It seems like it would make the front end really heavy, unless it's fairly light.

I LOVE that hood configuration, I would so do that if I could afford it. It's one of those things that if I ever have the money, I will probably do.

Here's another car with that setup, probably the best one I've ever seen.

about 330lbs. If you ditched the ac it'd be about the same as an m50. I thought about doing it for a while...

but it stopped at a thought. Finding a good alusil v8 is kinda tough, and converting a 4.4 to obd-1 i've heard is a pita. Then you have the fact that a 6speed costs $1800 for a decent one, and you can't even rebuild them if something breaks. There is a whole list of reasons not to do it, the only reason you would do it is to have a torque monster.

I dig the interior though. I think he could have made it better by reupholstering the seats with red leather, and not using dove grey seat trim on the vaders. Its too busy as it sits.

Werd. Sounds like if you were going to go to all that trouble, you might as well just go all out and swap to the E39 M5 V8.

The v8 is not that much heavier, and holds the weight further back. If anything it would be an improvement.

I'd say do a V12 swap for the money. 15 lbs heavier than the M30, plus more HP than the V8 and more torque. No nikasil, older technology...

I like the tilting front ends.

I've always wanted to do that since working around big rigs.

Sure it must be something to get the front end to work and line up.... But then finishing up the details on it for show material must've been some work.... wow

Whaaat? lol You DO know that the v12 has 2 of everything right? 2 DME's, 2 distributors, everything... its a nightmare. I would NEVER put one in another vehicle. I wouldnt even buy a bmw with that old v12 (750/850)

I knew a kid that had one of those cars.
                            It never broke.

                            Edit:
Actually I know another kid with an 850...neither one had any real driveline problems.

                                I hope that is sarcasm.

The v12 would be an incredible engine for the torque. I am pretty sure they are trouble free, in BMW terms.

For the money, however, an m30 would be the best choice, IMO. They are nuclear-holocaust proof, and can create some crazy low end power.

The owner needs to install a mirror on the underside of the hood to better show the engine!
