Simple maintenane really went a LONG way this time!

Really basic maintenace work that made a significant difference to my eta

    - Thermostat & Gasket
    - Spark Plug Wires
    - Distributor Cap & Rotor
    - Valve Cover Gasket
    - Rocker Shaft Plugs
    - Flushed the radiator

Roughly 2.5 hours later....all is well, ends well.

Ignore the zip ties in this pic, we were using that to hold the hoses out of our way of the distributor cap & rotor.

I noticed a substantial difference in power & the engine is running much cooler due to the 71 degree Wahler thermostat.

Its either running better or its a placebo effect caused by your sense of accomplishment on doing a job you know you should do. I used to always think my car ran better after a tune up and it probably didnt since I was a NAZI for scheduled maintenance.
    Im now E30less.

That's true, Ryan. But never underestimate the benefits of swapping out worn or old parts for new ones, like spark plug wires and stuff like that.

I definitely know its better b/c my car doesn't make the rumbling noise it makes when I start it up in the morning. Plus, with the A/C on, it accelerates much better.

True, and if it has been a long while since the last tune up, new parts will bring a little life back.

Yeah I was really suprised myself on that grassroots article myself. Pretty cool how much just standard maintenance can do for a motor.

No problem Jonathan! I owe it to you after you let me drive your M3! Will you make it out the meet I have planned at my dad's restaurant on Sept 30? Check bfc for details.
