    IE strut bar arrived! (pics)

UPS delivered it while I was in San Diego last Friday. I haven't had a chance to install it, but it looks great. Judging by the quick test fit I did it appears that it will drop right in, no lifting or cruise control bending. Total cost was 114.95 shipped through the group buy Jason organized. That isn't bad at all considering it came already powercoated black. I figure I saved time and money going this route rather than buying a sparco and having it beadblasted and powdercoated. I should have time to install it tomorrow as well as give the car a decent wash. I'll post some pics of the install as soon as I have time.

Even though they are a cool, and rewarding mod; I dont think its that big of a deal. We have all seen em.

Looks good though, hope everything goes well.

    I bombed Korea every night.

the paint is awful on the bar, at least it was on mine. Good bar, but they only did a very very light coat of paint. They might have changed it by now though.

          That's not powdercoated.

Powdercoated stuff is shiny and has a plastic appearance.

Let's not argue over whether its powdercoated or not. Jason called me up and told me that IE was sending my bar to be powdercoated before it shipped. Either way, powdercoats are not always glossy, you can get them in varying percentages of gloss. I'm happy with it, even if it is paint.

Actually powdercoating can be done in more than one type of finish. I had my valve cover powdercoated by a friend who is in the business of building and podercoating ATV racks, etc. and it was done with a black paint in a textured finish. I watched the whole process, took 20 minutes, and it was cool!

I finally got a chance to take some pics of the installed strut bar. A few notes about the bar: 1. Like the Sparco I had to bend the cruise control bracket. 2. It contacts the vacuum hose that comes off the brake booster (not a big deal and I don't think this would be an issue if I had a manual transmission). 3. Like you guys thought the bar is definently painted, not powdercoated like I was originally told. In any event it made an obvious difference in the rigidity of the car even with the stock suspension. 8)

It would be more notacable in an engine bay like mine..... All black, I manifold and valve cover.... Looks hot.Paint that valve cover and remove the throttle body tape some shit off and paint the Intake Manifold and valve cover and sand the ridges. Then youll love the look. Imma get one after my breyton pedals. You like the feel of it?

battery is in the engine comp. on all e30 conv., and tourings. In germany the only cars that have the batt in the trunk are the 325s. Strut bar looks really nice i think! A big suspension upgrade if you ask me.( but whose asking?)
