And yet you have done nothing but make statements insinuating things you cant back up with any facts.
The energy companies make money for one reason and one reason alone, people buy gas. The companies have a higher COGS because of the futures market so they raise their wholesale refined prices they sell to the resellers and the resellers raise their pump prices. What in this is illegal or immoral? Consumers continue to consume them.
Businesses go into a business, you might want to sit down because what I am going to say is apparently going to shock you, they go into business to make money. They arent in the business of giving away free gas when the COGS gets too high, they are going to raise their prices to continue making money (as long as they believe the consumer will continue to consume enough of the goods at the new price). This applies to toilet paper too, although I didnt hear anyone blaming Bush for the 6% increase the big players of the household paper goods market nearly unanimously rolled out last year. That was 5x the increase of the previous 5 years. Talk about a spike.Leave a comment:

Bush will have to find someone else to retire with after Pat Robertson has Chavez assassinated.

dont be so quick to discount the well informed college kids. word has it bush is planning on bombing multiple oil fields after the election much the way he did the levies in new orleans. then hugo chavez and bush are going to retire in the south of franceActually growth as declined and there is a building surplus of US crude. Couple that with a pretty large field discovered in the gulf and a pratically non-existant hurricane season and the speculators are looking to unload.
Also fuel blends are less stringently controlled in winter because of the reduced humidity/smog and vapor loss.
All those factors have a hell of a lot more to do with gas prices than Bush, but given the age of most members here its not a shocker that bush is a target.Leave a comment:

Lucky for the oil companies that the price they have no control over has made them countless billions of dollars. ;)
Just a happy coincidence - kinda like the price dropping like a rock immediately before mid-term elections and and also before the biggest retail sales period of the year.
Next we'll see the capture of Bin Laden.Leave a comment:

a. Denmark was the nation that had the cartoons depicting a certain Muslim profit and the Islamic world was boycotting Dane products and vandalizing property. Supporting Denmark supports the right to freedom of expression without oppresion from any given religion.
b. No relatives that I know of. Some friends but no family.
Warum? Kennst du Leute, die in Danemark wohnen?Leave a comment:

So you dont argue against anything in that article? (which happens to be agreeing with EVERYTHING I have said from the beginning)
Also, gas prices spiked in the 70s. Was GW doing something from his dorm room?
Also here is a chart of the gas (at the pump average) prices for the US an europe:

Notice how the trend is dominant no matter where you are at? Is GW setting policy in Germany or the Netherlands? Maybe those in the Netherlands are really concerned about this upcoming election season in the US.
Some spot checks over the last few months in the US and singapore:

Except for LA (maybe bush has a specific reason to charge them more) our prices have changed in line with those in Singapore. Possibly Singapore wants a conservative Ledgislature or maybe Bush is controlling the prices in Singapore so a Republican can win in Iowa.
These are thanks to the EIA.
There was a drop in prices after Bush senior took office with one higher year in the middle of his administration and then a drop in the last 2 years. It rose and fell many times during Clinton's administration.
There was a big spike during the embargo. The oil companies had no control of them. Locally, gas is 10c more for 87 and 20c more for 91 in KC, just 25 miles away from here. What does Bush have to do with that?Leave a comment:

Gas prices change very rapidly. Too rapidly to support an argument that they are based on supply and demand. It was only months ago that they increased 30 cents/gallon in 48 hours. Faster than the tanker trucks were delivering to the corner 7-11.
"All economy is political economy" The difference between the Republicans and Democrats is about as significant as the difference between whores. Oil companies are big-pimpin' them bitches. Was it good for you? We'll get cheap ass until after the election and then we'll really get f**ked and it doesn't matter who wins because we're gonna lose.
Disregard if you went to Yale.

Wrong. Gas prices are based upon expectations. In other words, not how much it cost to fill the tank in the ground, but rather how much its going to cost to fill the next one. Thats why gas shot up like a buck after Katrina hit and we lost a major oil center. This has already been gone over.Leave a comment:
