    redoing my red tails

    so i think im going to re-do my red tails
    cuz theyre pretty scratched up and could use a respray
    and i was wondering, what should i use to get the old
    paint off?

    i used testors model paint and testors clear coat

    Sand, sand, sand!

    You might try acetone however. But be careful as it can eat the plastic also.

      yeah, i kinda figured that about sanding
      and ill use the acetone to get in between the cracks and stuff

        Acetone and a cloth doesn't do much, I've tried.

        Sanding or something otherise abrasive would do the trick.

          get a bottle of OOPS. just spray it on let it sit for a second and the paint will bubble and then start whiping!

              What are you using to paint them this time around? I'm thinking about painting mine - they're unpainted at the moment.

                ill probably use the same stuff

                testors makes model paint in translucent colors
                goto walmart and in the toy aisle
                there will be a model section
                find the model paint, and there should be some sort of a
                clear red paint, and just plain clear coat in lil cans
                cant remember exactlly what the color is called
                but theres only like one clear red ive ever seen

                thats what i used
                and im happy with the way its held up
                except for when someone decided to key one of my taillights

                  polyurethane clear coat comes out much, much cleaner...i just had the guy at the body shop spray the whole tailight for me....no problems yet...

                  All-Red/MHW style Professional Tinted Tail lights
                  PnP EMS, fuel injectors, wideband o2 systems

                    id need a spray gun for that right?
                    my dad has one, so maybe ill see if he can help me out
                    or take em to a body shop

                      You can get automotive-grade clearcoat in a spray can. That's what I used to spray Josh's red tails for him.

                      And there is more then one transparent red color. You want Transparent Candy Apple Red.

                        cool thanks man, yeah i wasnt sure exactlly the color but i know when i went to walmart, there was only one color, but i guess other places would have different selection
