I noticed that when I stole my 318i's grill for my 88 325is. I noticed the Upper lip but didn't remeber at the time it was a Euro grill. So now that means I've got full Euro grills all the way across the front.

Don't refer to it as a euro center grill. It's there for airflow reasons. Hence why I don't sell them. The US car generally have AC which means you need more airflow across your radiator and ac condensor and the 318i's typically didn't have AC sorta like the 2002 that the engine was sourced from.

The airflow thing does make a differance when you overheat your car. It's bad. Not recommended by me. Also we drive at considerably lower speeds so smaller opening will not flow enough air. A small on at high speed will, which in Europe we tend to drive faster than the US. Our out of city speed limit is 90km = 54 mpg just around back country roads. The autobahn as you know it has a recommended limit of 130 kph unless unrestricted and even then if you are faulted for an accident you will be fined for speeding.

True story... the EPC refers to the two types of center grilles as AC or non-AC equipped, even for US models.

Hmmm... then maybe all '84 318i's got the blocked center grilles? Any other '84 318i people out there?

The EPC called out the two types of grilles for late model 318's, I didnt bother to look at what was available for the early cars... I shall do so tomorrow.
