I'm using 15w-50 Mobil 1 in the 87n 325, and I checked it today. It's brown, but not black. Has close to 3,000 miles on it I think.

You don't have any leakage problems with the 0w30? I was considering getting some. I'm running the 5w30 AMSoil now.

I use 5W40 and it's a necessity in the winter time where I live but it has good all year around properties as well. The previous owner had not taken good care of my iX and I made two oil changes within a few weeks and the colour got much clearer on the second change. Now that's the engine, you should have seen what came out of the rear diff, that was pure black tar. That oil had lost it's properties a long time ago..
I swear the car used less gas after the change of oil in the drive line, very noticeable out of gear when rolling down a hill or on flat road (much less friction).
