    Z4, 335, or Boxter S.....need some advice:

So my dad(who cant do any research at all on his own) (and is completly clueless about cars) (Who thinks i know everything(but i dont)) (and is having a midlife crises) asked me my opinion on these three cars.

Either a 3.0 z4, 335i, or a Boxster S. I told him I would probably go with the 335, as i know he wont enjoy a convertable or something that small, and i really dont like boxters.

Anybody have any thing personal to add? Or maybe something else in that genre? I would stay away from anything Mercedes, unless its a nice AMG or something, but thats about his price range(he wants to lease the car(WTF))

get the cayman if he doesnt like the boxster. in any case, a bimmer isn't going to satisfy his midlife crisis like a p-car will

As much as I love BMW's and the new 335, Ive never thought kindly of buying a car within its first year of production. Gives some time to work the bugs out.

Id get the Porsche hands down, only Id probably get the cayman, but hey thats just nitpicking.

If he's really concerned about speed, the Boxster will run circles around both of those BMWs unless it's a just a straight out drag race with the 335.

If he just wants a 'nice car' then I'd get the 335.

+1 for the boxter s. i didn't really like them at first, but after driving them (old 2.5' s were fucking dogs :( ) alot i can say they are the best bang for the buck. even the regular boxters are fun to toss around and still pretty quick, but the S is the way i would go if i was to buy another p-car. they cayman is dead sexy , but a big price jump from the boxter s. that's my 2 cents.

335i if he wants a back seat, Porsche if he wants a 2-seater.

For midlife crisis, the Boxster S. However, its considerably more expensive then the two bimmers. Base price Porsches are pretty bare bones as far as features go. The price rises sharply when you option it up to what the 335i and Z4 already offer.
I've driven both of the BMWs w/ 6spds and would choose the 335i hands down over the Z4 3.0si. Fantastic car.

Why bother with the Cayman? I mean yea it's a good car... but Porsche held back on the car's abilities or else it would be as good as the 911. I could never buy a car that the company holds back from being what it can really be.
