New 7, and the official end of 'E' for BMW!

"It's appropriate that the new car's codename begins with an F, with BMW having exhausted its series of 'E' designations, introduced in 1968."

This is referring to the new 7-series, due to be a 2008 model. No more 'E' I suppose... I don't know about you ppl, but I'm gonna find it weird to refer to the newer BMW's with 'F' designations

    Oh, link: http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/secret_...sid=205&page=2

How can that be a BMW? It doesn't even have the appropriate kidney grill.

Naturally, the front end is classic BMW, with a big kidney grille and twin bulbs.

If these new cars are so secret, why are they driven on public roads?

It's probably because they need to do some street tests, to fine tune the car. I remember one of my clients let me sit in the new Mazdaspeed 3. It had Michigan dealer plates. Man, 2.3L turbo focus/3 chassis. Should be pretty quick, in a straight line. lol

They've been doing it for a while. As soon as they started to do away with the driver oriented console. Sucks. e36's e46's and e30's etc etc had em. The e60 dosen't.

i never could understand why they skipped so many e chassis numbers. from 46 to 92 (in the 3 series at least) what happened to the 50s? there was no e50 or e52.

yeah they wasted some numbers, i guess they probably did that "strategically"". Then another thing with their whole concept of making the 3er Sedan & Coupé totally different cars you go : E90 and E92.
Why not like E90/4 and E90/2???

                              Oh well.......
