is it possible to run late model bumper shocks on

a diving board car??? i currently tie my e30 down on my car trailer with tire straps on the front wheels. but i dont feel safe with these. id like to use 2 late model bumper shocks (passenger side) so i could screw in tow hooks to use with tie downs. can i flip a passenger side shock and use it on the drivers side? or will late model shocks not work at all on diving boards??
anyone know?? i know id have to carve holes in my diving boards and thats ok if it would work

IIRC the whole front ends from early to late models are a direct swap, so they should bolt right on. dont know about flipping sides though.
