Holy shit! That was the biggest pain in the ass. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
I bought a slightly used top (frame and all) from ///M42 sport awhile back. He gave me a good deal, and did a great job of shipping it unharmed--his damn wooden crate's sitting on the side of the house.
My old top was the biggest piece of shit you ever laid eyes on. Not only did it have the clouded back window, not only did it have holes it the roof, it was so bad it would rain through the top.
It took me and a friend seven hours to finally get it on. We had to canibalize several pieces from my old frame, including the most crucial bolt, the one that keeps the whole folding mechanism together. That added about two hours to the whole project. Adjusting it took another three, and it's still not quite right--there's too much wind noise at the windshield. Maybe next weekend I can adjust it more.
But, it's a damn sight better than what I had, and I want to thank ///M42 Sport for giving me a good deal and a dry car.
