Magicar alarm and keyless entry install help/how-to?

Just wondering if anyone has a how-to on installing this alarm and doing the keyless entry? If not, a general install how-to would be nice for any car alarm/keyless entry.

This alarm has two push buttons, one is a valet and the other goes to a blue wire of unknown function. I assume i drill a hole for the valet in the door jam and install there? I have no clue the point of the other one.

What is the function of the valet anyway...?

I have not done a how-to yet. It is on my general list of shit to do (LOSTD). There is one over on E30tech, but I haven't seen it in a while.

You might want to scan the manual and post it here. Sounds goofy to me. A link to the manufacturer would be cool too.

A "Valet" switch would not go in a door jam.

OK, so the "Valet" function is a throwback to the days before remote alarms (thanks, Clifford) when we used keypads to arm and disarm our alarms. A "Valet" mode was able to temporarily disarm the alarm so the valet could park our car, see?

Today, most alarm companies call it by the much more logical name of "Programming Switch" or "Bypass" switch. You will need it for programming the functions of the alarm and to allow you to bypass your alarm in case of lost or broken transmitter.

Here are the wires you need to know to install your alarm:

12volts red + ignition harness Starter black/yellow + ignition harness Second Starter Ignition green + ignition harness Second Ignition purple + ignition harness Third Ignition Accessory Second Accessory Keysense Power Lock yellow/blue - drivers kick Notes: Remove drivers kick panel speaker, remove plastic cover below speaker, remove the two screws to pull relays. Keep relays upright. Power Unlock green/blue - drivers kick Notes: Remove drivers kick panel speaker, remove plastic cover below speaker, remove the two screws to pull relays. Keep relays upright. Lock Motor Unlock Motor Parking Lights+ gry/wht and gry/yel light switch Parking Lights- Hazards Turn Signal(L) Turn Signal(R) Reverse Light Door Trigger brown/purple - dome delay relay dkp Dome Supervision Trunk/Hatch Pin brown/black - at trunk light Notes: Brown/purple on convertibles. Hood Pin Trunk/Hatch Release Power Sliding Door Factory Alarm Arm Factory Alarm Disarm Disarm No Unlock Tachometer black AC diagnostic connector Wait to start Brake Wire green/red + brake switch Parking Brake Horn Trigger brown/yellow - steering column

Someday, someone might want to sticky that...

I'm confused on this plunger thing with a single wire running to it though.

Sounds to me like a "Pin Switch" meant to trigger the alarm if someone opens the hood.

Don't bother using it though. Owners of E30's have trouble figuring out how to open their onw hood!

              Most likely, thanks again.

              Definately sticky material.
