    over heating problem!!

so the other day i was washing my car and left it running as i dried it and all of a sudden all the coolant started hitting the ground and i looked and the temp was in the red!! i turned it off and and when i turn it on it keeps overheating.. i took the upper radiator hose off the thermastat housing and ran my car and no coolant was going through (with no thermastat in).
i dont know what the problem is? im thinking its the water pump, but other people are telling me that it could be a blocked radiator?

has anyone ever had this problem? and if soo what was it?

    thanks Gary

If coolant isn't running, and theres coolant in the resovoir, then it's most likely the pump. It'll overheat fast with a bad pump. If your pump is bad, might as well do the timing belt too. (actually, you have to). If the radiator was blocked, that wouldn't just happen randomly while running - and SOMETHING woudl still get thru.
