All I'm trying to tell this man is that if he buys a properly inspected car, he won't have any more or any more expensive problems with it than the E30, on average. Maybe fewer because the E34s can be found newer with lower mileage. I resent the comment about mechanics laughing at E34 reliability when the rest of the automotive world safely admits that the E34, especially a manual 535, is one of the most durable BMWs ever made. Furthermore, every reason that makes the E34 so good are the exact same reasons that make the E30 good. Granted it's more directly related to the E28 in its electronics and interior design, but little changed with the E34, other than making things more solid, quiet and refined.
