Unique? Maybe not. Effective? Uh, yeah, I think so.

I really don't know what I'll do, but I know I won't be buying a new Korman or MM motor, that's for sure. IF I keep the M20, I'll do my own stroker. Otherwise, I'll be looking seriously into doing an s50 swap.

Your car's baller points would explode through the moon if you dropped in a s50 or s52.

5-lug as well??? freakin' pimptacular!.:pimp:

FWIW it looks like MM uses http://www.sportcompactwarehouse.com/eagle/ Eagle rods or some variation. Yes they come from China, no that doesn't automatically make them junk. I would do a lot of searching for information before I put them in my engine though. If you look at some of the prices in that link for Honda/Acura rods, you can see MM charges a premium (330ish for 4 Eagle rods, 1000 for a set of 6 MM rods).

Go to a Chevy forum, you will find pages of arguments over Eagle/Scat rods and cranks. An engine builder that I trust for Chevys uses Scat, won't touch Eagle. Others disagree. Do lots of reading, and don't limit yourself to BMW info. Like it or not, at this level, an engine is pretty much the same no matter the brand name on the valve cover.
i used to sell eagle rod and they are indeed CAST RAW FORGINGS from china...then machined in the US. this is not really a bad thing though, i am pretty sure that SCAT's are also the same way if i remember right, and i have been told that even carillos are now made the same way. it is just a more affordable way to make rods (H and I beam style) so that more people can use them. as long as the machine is done properly, they use a good quality bolt (arp or carillo), and a good wrist pin bushing they are fine. oh and the NEW style scat rod are indeed made by eagle, the old style (different style i beam) were raw forged in china, then finished in the us.

I agree with the consensus of the thread. If you plan to drop that kind of skrilla it's better spent on a S50 or S52.

If you're bent on having a M20 stroker then you should just DIY, save your money, and gain knowledge from the experience but not expect incredible results.
