I wasnt aware that hartge did anything with the m20b23, are you sure its not just a hartge replica? It should have a unique kit, wheels, possibly some other bits.

that is what I am trying to figure out...
did hartge do anything to the m20b23?
What other goodies come on a euro 323?

The car is an oregon car. white exterior, blue interior, 200+ miles, hartge sides and rear, euro front. hartge wheels and F/R badging...

what other clues can I look for?

What do I need to look for to know if it is authentic or a replica? and if authentic, to what degree?

It should have a Hartge interior.

I think they came with the dog-leg tranny. First gear should be where 2nd normally is, and reverse is where first is.

Shift knob, steering wheel, and instrument cluster are often badged Hartge. Not sure if they were standard or options w/Hartge, but the true Hartges I've seen had these.

I thought first is where reverse is, off to the left, and then reverse is far right where 5th is. Becuase you are transfering between 2-5 the most in the racing

Joe knows what a dogleg tranny is. Case closed.

my bro got a 323 euro hartge car a few months back it had a dogleg in it and the exhaust had hartge stamps all over it. the wheels were also hartge. we think the motor might be a hartge motor too, but we havent had a chance to figure that out yet.

Hartge is hard to track. Hartge cars werent rcognized here in germany like Alpina cars.
so in all actuality, there is no such thing as a tracable "hartge" car.
the cars came with whatever options you wanted, or you could buy "finished" hartge cars.

Hartge is just like AC Schnitzer is/was back in the day. A tuner, and not a recognized car builder- like alpina and M gmbh.
