Although how many companies give you a Cost of Living Allowance to live somewere or money specifically to pay utilities and rent? One of the good things about the military.

Now come on Court the reason for our COLA is because we get paid so little and need to offset the weak pay we get . We for some people that is, as an elisted flyer with 16 years I get paid fairly well for an E7. I have no hope of seing E8 or E9 unless some members start retiring. Reserve structure is slightly differant.

Yeah but because of COLA, I can save more money each month :D Unfortunately, the wife won't let it go to the car :(

I'm in the Navy, currently at my school. I'm a crypologic linguist (learning serbian-croatian). I love it. I dont see why so many people are rooting for the Airforce, especially those who have never experienced anything remotely having to do with the military. This is a joint base, so I'm in school with all 4 services. If you dont want to do anything, sure, join the airforce. I dont mean to bad mouth them by any means. But from what I see here, they dont do anything. You'll get treated the best, thats for damn sure. They also have the hottest girls, although some marine chicks are up there as well...if you dont mind being with someone that can kick your ass.

Personally, I wouldnt listen to all these civilians that only know what they see on tv and read in articles. You've got a few peopel who are, or have been, in the service. Take what you like from all of us and make your decision. Either way, you're making a good choice. You cant really go wrong in the military, thats just my opinion.

What do you mean not do anything I goto more countries in 6 moths than you probably will in your life. 8) There are quite a few of us here that are Military. And if you read your statement you listed 3 not so bad reasons to join. As a linguist for Serb/Crotia where is your assignment going to be Rota NAS Spain? other than that there's not to many other places you can go besides DLI in Montery.
