Turbo vs Centrifugal SC Spool Up

A few guys asked so I ran a small test today. Rolling along at 2200rpm in 4th gear I went WOT and hit full boost (13psi) at 3200rpm. A centrifugal SC like the Rotrex would have about 3psi at the same rpm level. This assuming max boost of 6psi as I suspect.

So you're saying the turbo reaches it's full potential at 3200rpms?

Not bad.... but is it a drastic change when it hits 3200 or does the turbo gradually kick in from the start? By drastic I mean you go WOT and it feels like a stock car until 3200, where the 13psi kicks in.

On my car, it runs anywhere from 1-5psi below around 3200 or so, then from 3200-3800, it goes from 5psi to 12psi, and its a kick in the pants.

full boost at 2500rpm
boost starts at 1250 in 5th gear

max boost only 6psi tough

It spools immediately to 5psi and then gradually to 13psi.

the same for me, Todd, in wotin large gear below 3K rpm start to make full boost, mine start (depend in what shift too) about 2200RPM...but you can feel the "Kick" arround 3500 RPM or so....
