there is some skill and dedication there

That golf is living the Volkswagen dream: to be a BMW

I have always wanted to take an old-school mini, make it rwd and put a hayabusa motor in it!

I've already seen that post, since my last car was a mk2 GTI. It's a pretty cool build, and the guy definitely knows his stuff. :)

I don't understand some of the comments about VW's on here, though. Pretty ignorant statements if you ask me.

most negative comments are probably from ownership experience.
here's mine: vws can eat the corn out of my poo. i wouldn't give my worst enemy a vw.

I haven't owned a VW before but I've driven quite a few, modified and unmodified, new and old. Every one of them failed to impress. It also doesn't help that they're notoriously unreliable.

Older VWs are sweet though: Karmann ghias busses, beetles, ect

Yet even though you haven't owned one, you still repeat that they are "notoriously unreliable".... Personally having owned watercooled VWs for the past 10 years I can tell you it's quite the opposite.

People will have bad experiences with any car make and I'm not here to dispute that. Passing on what you've "heard" doesn't do anyone any good, speak from experience ;)
