Cost to ship an exhuast... What were you charged?

So what has it cost you to ship full exhausts in the mail and how did you go about dividing the parts up? I'm assuming it wasn't anywhere near $250, correct?

Generally 60-90$ from the typical parts houses.

I paid like $20 to have a Cat-Back shipped to me by Fap99.com. That actually also included a box with some other parts in that shipping cost.

Would it be even possible for UPS to charge $250???
I thought that price was mighty off when the guy I bought an exhaust from told me. Aparently $250 shiped in two separate boxes was the cheaper route too. Something is wrong.

Your original post was kinda vague.

Where was it being shipped from and to?

What kind of exhaust was it, exactly?? What kind of car, how many sections, what are the dimensions of the box(es) being shipped.

UPS puts a HUGE surcharge on oversize shipments, no matter what the weight. If the guy packed the exhaust in some huge boxes it would cost alot, OR if it's a crooked section, then UPS will measure it as if it was put in a big square box and charge accordingly. READ ups.com for an explanation of their oversize shipment policy.

              west coast to east coast.
Two boxing implaying that one box has the cat back section and the other box has the cat section, alll piping included. Both the catback and the cat section were cut in half. So total there are 4 peices, with 2 in each box. This is all for a stock E exhaust. UPS wanted $250

Also, has anyone ever had a shop fab up piping from the cat to the manifold? I was told by a shop a month ago or so that he wasn't sure if a muffler shop would be able to do that. If its possible, the hell I'll just have him send the Muffler itself and the Cat itself and have all the pipes welded to them.

Yeah, $250 sounds really high for that. If they were cut in half, they should probably not be considered more than oversize I. I don't understand how it could have been cheaper to ship them in 2 boxes either, unless the pipes are super thick and heavy.

Find someone closer to you to buy this stuff from. And someone who does not gouge on shipping costs.
