    LOST my KEYS!!!!!!

so i got new kickass goggles for free from a scott rep, so excited to test them out i forgot to zip up my pockets and my keys fell out. Now i'm thinking i'm screwed and mr. locksmith is going to charge me whatever he wants, then my friend says acura can cut keys using hte VIN number, does bmw do this too? would it be best to get a new key from bmw if they do it for should i go with a locksmith? TIA

Yes, show them the title and a piece of ID, and they will cut you as many keys as you like unless there have already been 10 keys cut for the car.

BTW, this is exactly why when I ride, I have a lanyard, that is looped through my belt loop, and then placed in my pocket. I also carry a stubby in my wallet, just in case. It's usually the first thing I buy for any e30 I plan on keeping for any extent of time (1 stubby, two new rubber handled keys), because most E30 only come with 1 key or a shit brass key.

    Keep it slideways!!

I got a new ignition tumbler with two new keys, and two cut door keys for 70 bucks. I'd figure 30 bucks for a couple keys.

Every day I wake up we drink a lot of coffee and watch the CNN
Every day I wake up to a bowl of clover honey and let the locusts fly in.

Every time I look out my window same three dogs looking back at me.
Every time I open my windows cranes fly in to terrorize me.

Nice. I'll need to stop by a locksmith soon for some extra copies of keys... I bent my door key a while back, and I have been opening my doors with the trunk. :(

I had to go get a new key not too long ago because I actually broke mine in half (yes, the metal part) while trying to pull a staple out of a wall. I still had both pieces, so they were able to make me a new one at Home Depot.

And if he would have done a search, he could have not wasted the bandwidth of this thread.
