Rims from Germany - US / Canada

Has anyone shipped their rims from Europe before ?

How much did it cost you ?
How long did it takes ?
What shipping company did you use ?
Was it by air / sea ?
How much extra taxes did you pay in here ?

I'm trying to get rims from Germany, I the shipping cost like 1,200 Euro !!!! and that's just ridiculous, IMO. I know some people on maX paid around U$150 and it took 5-6 weeks.

Please let me know if you have better suggestions. Thanks !

I paid about 100 euro to have the wheels on the car in my sig shipped. They only cost 50 euro, so after conversion it came to $200 for everything.

Just go to http://www.deutschepost.de, click on English in the top right and look around.

It took a little under a month and arrived right to my door, no duty no nothing.

9x16s which INCLUDED shipping...the order was placed on monday
and the rims arrived on THURSDAY via UPS Express directly from
Germany...Steve kept telling me that they would arrive before the
end of the week--but i didn't believe him...guess i was wrong...

If the wheels are under 44 pounds boxed a pair. The cost will be 69,00€ or $86.50 a box. At two boxes that is 138,00€ or $172.50 for postage (which isn't too bad concidering most of the dicks on ebay.com try to charge $100.00 a set to ship across america). It will take between 10 days and 6 weeks. UPS and all the others will run about $375-425.00 a set but you get it in 2-4 days.

Do not forget the transfer fee unless someone takes paypal (lol) or credit card (lol). Transfer fees run from $10-50.00 depending on your bank.

If the wheels are new you may get nailed for a small % on duties if the value is over $200.00 (that is insured value or sales slip value which ever they decide is higher)
So far all used items have been duty free for me.

Remember the exchange rate sucks., not like it did 3 months ago but still sucks.

Then there is the language barrier. And the reluctance to ship to USA.

So if the wheels cost you 400.00€ then

69.00€ + 69.00€ + $50.00 + 400.00€ = $722.50

Oh and what if someone in germany decides just to keep your money?

Most likely. I've seen most 16x9's fit with ease in the rear. Case in point...



And with a little tire pull, you can lower the car more. Those are Borbet B's.

regarding the Brocks--we are still in the process of fitting them on the car...
i've been waiting in line for a fender roller rental and it looks like we'll finally get
usage of it next week...i've actually only ordered (2) 9 x 16 rims and mounted up
the tires...we are going to use those two to make a judgement call regarding the
clearances of 9x16 all around...i've seen that setup on plenty of cars, but i'm running
a pretty soft Tokico suspension setup and i want to make sure that rubbing is not
excessive before committing to 9x16 on all four corners...now is when i wish i
had gone with height adjustable coilovers...if we decide that all is good, i'm going
to order 2 more 9's--if not, i'll just run a staggered setup by ordering (2) 7.5x16s
for the front...staggered setup or not, i'll be running 225/45/16 all around...

i must tell you that the packaging of the rims is UNBELIEVABLE!
boxes with renforced corners and tons of strapping...the inside contained form
fitted styrofoam pieces to keep the rim centered in the box...plus two solid sheets
of a very dense foam--almost like a mousepad--protected the front and back faces
of the rim...

Please let us know how they fit. If I don't buy a set of Borbet Ts from another member, I may go for some 16x9 of some sort. The Brocks are one of my possibilities. (Unless I can get my hands on keskins!)

i know some shops have a deal w/ these shipping companies, for example: if they shipped something over 5,000 euro a year, they get like these super cheap deal !
