pump is toast too, just what i need is more bills...

I can't tell, what engine is that, M20? Super easy fix. Here's a link to my DIY on how to do it:

BTW, if you haven't been already, welcome to R3V.

Tough luck.... it's a good thing you are ok though. There are plenty of people on this board that would be more than happy to help you get your car back on the road.

          thanks for the welcome

i might take you up on the parts, but with how backed up the postal system is, it'd be a month or so before i'd see them, and I need a car to drive to work on monday

sure its not a difficult fix, i've got another car with the parts i need on it, even a new gasket kit which I was planning to install in the spring...just have to convince my dad to let me use his garage, or buy someone some beer for use of theirs ;)

if all my tools weren't also in his garage, I suspect the tree in the driveway would have had an engine hanging from it this morning...now thats what I call a christmas tree decoration

Pansy, i'd be removing the pan outside. Let me know, i doubt it'd take all that long to get to you. Bum a ride to work for a few days.

^when I say garage, i mean tools which are in it, such as jack stands, engine hoist and whatnot...

i might just get what I need from a pawnshop and do it anyway when he leaves tomorrow ;)

Well, managed to get both pans off before dinner...girlfriend meeting family for the first time...fun

a closeup of the damage, yes, that piece is hanging off the ground strap

don't they just look so cute together under the lights?

pan off the red car is usable, the pump may not be, its full of metal shavings...I'm debating taking it apart and cleaning it or just getting a new pump...findout how bad it really is in the morning

happy holidays, hope yours aren't filled with the kind of fun i'm having ;)

                      I'm a very sarcastic guy.

Some like it, some hate it, some just don't realize it. :P

its up and running, for the moment atleast

the shaft that drives the pump snapped and left that little hex end way up in the block...got it out with a long needle and a (very)strong magnet

the pump on the red car was well within tolerances, pan was full of metal, but the pump was pretty clean, took it totally apart to be safe, and almost lost that little C clip on the pressure relief valve about 10times

someone had used sillycone instead of an oilpan gasket on the red car, all the **** that got inside the pan had found its way to the oil pickup screen, i'm surprised the thing had oil pressure at all, even with oil/water milkshake it still pumped

I don't mind sarcasm, actually I laughed at the comment, would buy the pan and pump, but I kind of need an engine to put them on, and who knows if an m20 will be going back in the red one ;)

I'm going to acquire some beefy stock with which to fabricate oil pan protection!
