one simple rule: SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT! This would eliminate most problems on the road, but not everyone is aware of this "rule". There are a lot of crackheads out there that think the left lane is the "slow" lane. As for the headlights, yes, it is an acceptable form of communication to the driver of the vehicle ahead, that you wish to pass. Slow people just need to stay off of my roads, and I would never be forced to rage, and wave at the nice people with my middle finger, and pass on the right, and cuss, and yell and scream, and speed up suddenly, etc. etc. etc. Oh Whale, HAPPY MOTORING :twisted:

I agree, if people would have some common courtesy, and move over to the right, traffic would flow better. Too many people sit in the left lane, with their cruise set just barely faster than the right lane, and think "well I'm passing people, so i deserve to be in the left lane."

Today I saw some nut behind the wheel of a 350Z. The interstate has a 65 mph speedlimit. Traffic in the left lane normally goes 75-80 mph. This guy is in the left lane going between 65 - 70 mph, and randomly MASHING on the gas then slowing back down again. Finally, someone behind him must've flashed their high beams, because out of nowhere the floors it, swerves into the right lane nearly kicking out the rear end, and flies off down the highway. People like that A) don't deserve to drive, and B) certainly don't deserve to drive 350Z's.

It really comes down to arrogance... I think the majority of drivers believe its their god-given right to be in the left lane. They think if they move over to the right to allow faster traffic pass, that they're "losing" or admitting they're a slower driver. But in all honesty, its the courteous thing to do.

What really irritates me are the people who speed up to pass traffic, then slow back down to a speed slower than the car they just passed. I was driving home one day, and this idiot would blast past myself, and other cars, then slow back down below the speed I was traveling at. People like that just pass cars because it makes them feel good... but all it does is irritate everyone else.

Only if there's no way to get around and it's an absurdly low speed. 20 in a 45 for example. Don't laugh, my town is mostly senile citizens, it happens. Alot.

Again, I live in a town of mostly senile citizens. If I didn't use my horn I'd still be waiting behind that Crown Vic at the stoplight. I'd have also been hit dozens of times by geezers who refuse to use their mirrors but just start backing out of their parking space and hope that whatever's there moves.

Most of the drivers here have been too blind to seemy gestures for about a decade anyway so why bother?

Waste of breath judging by their response to the ambulance and fire truck racing for their retirement home...

I replied to all of em above. I'd much rather spend time driving then worrying about telling someone they did something wrong. My idea is, spend that time avoiding the avoidable, and preventing an accident or incident from ever occuring.

I use the slow lane. It's always open since noone uses it, they would rather take up space in the fast lane and the middle lane.
