I would do the flush.
The reason most warn against it is because if your tranny is in bad shape and already on its way out the new fluid may facilitate its failure, but it was likely it would have failed soon anyways.
To keep the tranny in good shape and not let it get to that point, you need to do a flush every 60-80k.
Once the fluid breaks down, the trannies have to work harder, building more heat and overheating is the #1 reason for failure, thats why cars with external tranny coolers usually last longer.
Thats said, I would always flush my own tranny.....but bcus normal ppl dont take care of their cars properly, i'd be hesitant to tell them to, bcus i dont want to be liable.
Also keep in mind when a tranny shop gives advice....what do you think they make more money on? A tranny service? or a complete tranny rebuild?
Exactly.
