Do all i cars have an "i" on the trunk??

I've seen many E30's with just 325 on them. Are all these E cars?? Thanks in advance.

Yes, but DO NOT neccessarily go by that. Look at the door jamb VIN sticker, as I have seen, and actually owned 2 e30s that were missing the i on the trunk, and it involved the letter going missing over the last 20 years. the plain 325 was a budget version of even the e, and had no letter from the factory. But, again, go by the VIN and door jamb sticker rather than an emblem.

Werd to that. My wife's 89 325i only had a 325 badge on it, due to the trunklid being repainted and the shop not ordering the i to go with the rest of the badge.

An actual 325 will always be a diving board car, the large percentage of them being a bare-bones, base model eta. The exception is the 88 325 (Super Eta) which only got a 325 badge. It still has diving boards, but is a facelifted body, meaning late-model front valence, ellipsoid headlights, lower rear arches, unibody rear apron, and larger taillights.

They could have had it removed. I took mine off and it looks ten times better than 20 year old beat to shit numbers that most cars have.

okay, I've tried to search it, but come up short with slight exception to this thread - eta stands for what? Mine is a 1988 325iS, would the S indicate the above referenced "Super eta"

I took the badges off my car when I repainted it, other than the rondells

SO look at the door sticker

im also suggesting to inspect the engine.

the i's have a tighter intake (see my sig)
the e's have longer intake tubes, that are farther apart.
plus, a i can rev to 6.5k before a redline (non chippd), while a E will redline around 4k

ive known e30 owners who did not know what engine they had (even after 10 years of ownership) and also, did not know what a timing belt is. (scary).

                          Oh wow teh n00bs!!!

An "is" wouldn't be an "e" now would it? So no the "s" has nothing to do with it being a seta. A seta or Super eta is the 88 325e, which has the same kind of "domed" pistons that an "i' has but is still a 2.7L and does not rev to 7k like the "i" does. The "s" stands for sport. Meaning your car has the "sport" package.

setas are rare, and sweet if you find them.
you could swap a "i" head and intake on the setas block and have a bolt on stroker.
