lookie what I found in my oil pan.....

'89 325i, pulled the engine the other day, I KNEW that the intermediate shaft was broken, but I did not know about the #1 rod. It was completely broken in 3 pieces- the bolts did not back out, they are broken off in the rod !!

I guess the big-ass crack in the side of the block should have been a clue.....

BTW, this was from a car I bought about a year ago at an auction, it had been donated to charity, and was listed as "runs and drives". When I went to pick the car up, I started it up and immediately shut it down as it made some horrible noises- good thing I was prepared with my truck + trailer to tow it home.

So now it's getting a "new" engine and once it gets sorted out a bit it will be FS.

nice pic, sorry for your loss. I have never seen a rod bend that bad before. Did you put the bend in the connecting bolt or was it like that before?

I had the exact same pieces in an 89 I picked up but I knew it was dead. It had a some melted rods stuck up inside though, and I think some escaped through the hole on the side of the block. She will live again though.
