Friend rear ended my car with his truck.. advice/info needed! (pics)

Well on New Year a friend of mine backed into my parked E30 with his dad's red F10. He felt super bad about everything, but of course I want the car back to the way it was before!

It’s hard to tell in some of the pictures but there are two dents. One is right below the driver side taillight and the other is very small in the corner of the driver’s taillight on the lower right hand corner. I'm surprised it left a dent there and didn't smash the corner too. The taillight is also smashed and the bumper has a dent and is mangled and bent up pretty bad.

That bad news is its a euro bumper that I recently paid good money to have it striped!

I have no idea how much this will cost, and I don’t want my friend to have to pay out of the ass, but on the other hand it should be fixed.

What do you think the repair will cost? The dents need fixed and the area repainted (that is going to look like shit!) and a new taillight and euro bumper. How is the shop going to find a rear euro bumper and how am will I be able to have it striped again for free since it was like that during the accident?

3) Have the dad pay for the car instead of the funeral

Well I'm going to get some estimates tomorrow. The thing is he doesn’t have a job at all (he's 16 or 17, I forget). If it’s more than his deductible then I should probably get a hold of his insurance company, correct?

That is very true. I'm just asking how much anyone on here with experience thinks it will cost and what to do about the euro bumper, especially since it was striped.

If he dosn't have the money already, then its not like he can give it to me. I'm just trying to find out weather the insurance or paying me would be the best option.

You can buy the euro bumper pieces new. I ordered the long middle section of the front euro bumper from BMA. The price wasn't too bad either.

Why did you need to have the bumpers stripped? Were you planning on painting them?

Yes, I was going to get it painted very soon. I'll have to look into that, all of there prices are lower than the ETK listings.

So the bumper and taillight is going to be an easy fix... but having the dents fixed and the area repainted is going to be the killer. Any Ideas on the price for that?

He owes you a taillight, and a euro bumper. Why do you want it stripped? If you drive around with a stripped bumper it'll rust up quickly. Just have the shop paint it while your car gets painted.

As for the dents, if it were me, I'd probably just let him go :P

its primed of course. and it would be dumb to have a new chrome center piece and primed sides! Get where I'm coming at?

there is more than just a dent in the bumper, its pretty twisted up. I took a look at the mount from under the car and its not even close to being flush with the car. I'm not sure if a shop will be willing to fix it and if not I'm kind of out of luck when it comes to gettting a new bumper that is already dechromed.

and he sure as hell is going to fix the dents, the paint is even flaking and starting to rust on the small on you really can't see. there is no reason to let him off of that!

I'll get some estimates with just for the dents to be fixed and also some for the whole job to be done.

I think that you can still get the middle section, but like you said your's is stripped and not chrome.

I got the whole turn signal assembly's off of Bavauto.com for mine and they was brand new. So some stuff is still avalible for the euro bumpers.

I'm pretty sure the euro's are aluminum, just chromed, so no rust issue there.
