You said that almost too casually :)

Bought my Lachssilber 88 5 spd cabrio with 110K on the clock for $2800 a few months ago.

          Has ton of service/repair records.

Car is not perfect, but it is clean and everything works.

Nice. It's far more common to see clean low mileage cabby's. Seems as if fewer people drove them during the winters.

Thanks man. I'll keep my eyes open for you. If I see something for sale, I'll send it your way. Check your wanted post. I linked you to a clean one in LA, although I imagine you've seen it already.

I've only put 1,400 miles on it in 4+ months.

It's my DD, but I live only 1.5 miles from work, so the mileage will remain low.

Not sure if that question is directed to me, but I'll answer anyways:

On craigslist in the SF Bay Area.

I happened to spot the ad shortly after it appeared, took off from work early with cash in hand.

One guy beat me to it, put down a deposit, but backed out the next day because the sale of his car fell thru, and he was going to use those funds to buy the E30

While I was at the sellers house doing the paperwork, his phone was ringing non-stop from prospective buyers.

The seller wasn't hurting for cash and had just bought an newer vehicle and just wanted to sell the E30 quickly as he didn't want to deal with low-ballers and time-wasters.

I've already been offered $3,500 for it.

Ben- sd.oodle.com was where I searched. Surprising amount of cars on there.

I paid the lady's full asking price of 4500. The upside is that I don't have to touch the car maintenencewise for a good while(she even had the oil changed for me today before she sold it, by a BMW shop).

This book is pretty accurate and based on a pretty large database of actual sales. They give values for three condition categories.
