I'm an E30 lover. I've loved them for a while now and ever since I was old enough to have a license I've been trying to figure out a way to get one. I'm now on my 2nd E30 (90 325i cabrio). The 1st one was a 86 325 eta. I've owned three new cars also and a couple other old cars in between or at the same time as the E30's (the other cars ranged from american to japanese). I'm not stuck on one particular make or model when it comes to cars but I can't get away form E30's, and I think I'll have one or another older BMW for the rest of my life. When it comes to cars I do it to perfection (in my eyes of course). Every car I've owned has had enough suspension and engine performance to be competitive at a track or autoX but I mainly used it for weekend enjoyment and daily driving. When it comes to E30's I like a mix between euro and jdm flavor and not a whole lot of bling. Just keep it clean and subtle with minimal cosmetic mods and some nice wheels with a nice drop (normally low). If I had the money I'd have racing seats in all my cars. I've only been able to afford it in a few, because usually that's one of the last mods on my list and I usually sell the car by then. If I could build my perfect E30 it would be an early 318i shell with a nicely suited e30 m3 motor making 250-275hp. Enough to be fast and reliable. I'd have the cars weight under 2000 and the inside would look simple with bucket seats and a steering wheel to match. Anyways I could keep going on...but I wont...I love E30's.

Me well I want a race car in OEM clothing, a big sleeper.
Something with a nice tastefully moded exterior, eg nice paint job, tucked bumpers, crisp clean lighting, small taste full spoilers (front an rear), nice normal wheels and really sticky tires. A clean stock interior with little touches hear an there and a good sounding but minimal system. But the best part is a fire breathing really high boost (25+ psi) engine pushing everything, on a well sorted corner carving suspension and be able to stop on a dime.

So at a glance it looks like a nice clean older BMW. To the highly trained car guy you might think somethings up with custom brakes an big intercooler hiding behind the front air dam. Its a car to mess with nearly every thing on the street and not draw lots of attention from the cops.

        but hey thats me

I think a M-Tech 2 wing looks really out of place without the rest of the kit.

            Josh,

What happened to your M50 swap plans?????

As for me, if you've seen my car, you know that its go>show.

Suspension mods primarily. Drivetrain is stock M20 with a 3.73 LSD. Interior out and being replaced with shells and a roll bar.

I am working on cleaning up some cosmetics so it looks a little better, but it'll never be more than a 20/20 car.

I guess for me it is go before show, but show will come. I like to keep things OEM or significantly better.

On this car, I like keeping things stock but updating things here and there. If I'm replacing a part and there's a newer or improved OEM part, I get it. I plan on installing a BMW Business CD player from an E36, and I'm also going to add keyless entry and remote start.

Right now I'm just repairing and replacing maintenance items, so there isn't a whole lot of cash for anything else. But once I get the major items out of the way, I'm hoping to make a few improvements. I'd love to create a "325isc" with an early IS front spoiler, M Tech 1 wheel and spoiler, and basketweaves or Ronal LS's. But I have other things to do, we'll see.

I need to get keyless entry real bad. The common e30 central locking problem has reared its ugly head on my car and it annoys the shit out of me.

my modding has many facets.. im only 26 and have owned many cars. It all depends on the car i guess. i like going fast but when i have a fast car i turn into the 16 year old and then i get tickets. That being said i try to just go for apearance then when im maintaing the car i try to upgrade what i touch :) i also like em low and i have a taste for expensive wheels haha . i think i should have 2 e30s. one for the track/canyon and one to look at :) plus a couple of watercooled vws in the mix :)

well, i decided to come back to this thread. My 240 was coilover'ed, stiff-bushing (some solid, some delrin), slammed, 16s and 17s... loud muffler, and loud brakes. Sure it was fun to get crazy and I got props, but eventually... driving around town was a drag.

i got some H&R sports on this e30 and a set of baskets and steelies. daily drive on es100s, and thinking of some ziexs for steelies to drift or just more takeoffs from hondas. i found a few bit or peices to make the interior liveable - like leather ebrake boot, and cg-lock, and shorter shifter. I guess it's OEM plus... but no more street-driven racecars which is more than can be beared easily. HPS pads oh yeah. fresher OEM bushings... that stuff. It's not cool or changed a lot, but i like it. And can rip it.
