I don't have a system in my E30, I didn't have one in my Alfa (the exhaust sounded like a 6 cyl Ferrari), and I barely use the system in my 5er. The only radio I listen to while I drive is the one in my truck because driving that thing is so mind numbing... When I drive something that is involving and fun, I don't ever have the need for music!

Im not bashing it at all, I just think its absolutely retarded when people spend $1200 on a sound system when that money could be put into the suspension, motor, brakes... Or something cool like a camera! I have heard some fantastic (to my ears) sound systems, but I have just never had the urge to install anything like that in any of my cars. It's just my style I guess, I'd rather be absorbed in the drive and be aware of everything that is happening in my machine, I like to hear and feel it all.

I hear you. I guess ill start thinking in the same mind set once i buy a bmw. Well im in the process of buying a 325is so we will see. Ive been driving a civic for 4 years so its almost a must. I mean that 4 banger engine whine is so annoying. (nothing even close to the 318is' sound)

Also ive been living in such a small house with all my room mates in a neighborhood where everyone is so sound sensitive i could never get anything for the home. (of course im saving up for a B&W system :))

I'm usually pretty open-minded and say do whatever with your car. But that thing is fucking awful. I know it took a lot of work, but damn, he needs to spend four more years to make it look tasteful.

As far as car audio systems, I like good music in my car. I'm not always bombing curves--sometimes I'm just cruising on the highway. Listening to music is great then. While I think the system in that yellow Hazmat truck is over the top (and wouldn't sound half as nice as the Mark Levinson system in the new Lexus LS460), a good stereo is a good investment.

EDIT: Dozyproductions, you better be careful about what you say about sound systems. StereoInstaller will tear you a new one if you're not.
