Not getting screwed when buying shipped from individual

When purchasing something from someone that they have to ship from their location to you, what is the best way to ensure you don't get shafted? i.e. payment/shipping? Thanks

Postal Money Order? Cool, sounds like the way I might have to go then. This purchase is an out of town craigslist buy so I can't check the person's rep or I would for sure. The honest system is great and I am cool with that it's just I would, needless to say, rather take any and all precautions available...

You could ask them if they will will do COD? Sounds corny, but they ship it and when the delivery guy shows up, he gets the money from you and sends it to the guy.

Messing with Postal Money Orders is a serious crime.

Best advice yet is to check forum feedback.

If anyone wants to buy something from Portland... Pay me, have the seller drop it off here at the shop, and I will ship it. :D

Im a big fan of money orders. Cheap, no bullshit from paypal, and secure. Definately check out the forum feedback, and give the guy a little leeway on delivery times. Most of us arent in the business of selling parts full time.
