a few friends and I were trying to blow up a VW Fox engine, drained the coolant and ziptied the throttle wide open (out of gear of course), lasted for about 5-7 min. then things started to seize up.

I didn't know that I was doing harm to my car. Over the last few days with the weather being in the single digits, I have been going out in the morning, starting the car and then driving 80MPH down the highway within the first 2 minutes of a 10 minute trip. And then once I get to my office, I don't think that the temperature bar has even gotten off of the blue mark.

But as it relates to used cars I always figured that a car that can run good cold is a sign of a good car. I always get a bit suspicious when I go look at a used car and the seller has done me the courtesy of warming it up for me..as if he has something to hide- which makes me think that its either hard starting when cold or it has other issues before it actually warms up.
