    ^ He speaks the truth.
However, Trans Program can also be caused by bad sensors or all sorts of other things in my experience, including loose connections.

On the negative side they use alot of fuel. M50 cars are better on gas, but you could always add a TCD or a Miller kit to the tank engine.

They're not THAT bad on gas.
525s are slugs under normal circumstances, especially so with an auto.

I just sold my wife's 92 525. It was a great car and I wish we could have kept it as a commuter for me, but we don't have enough room at our house. It was very reliable, comfortable, easy to work on, and reasonably fun to drive.

Car wasn't meant to be an auto. What a waste of a good engine with a slushbox. Heck they made 518's and these get along just fine. We are obsessed with getting away from the traffic light first everytime. If you want to be first get a 540i sport 6 speeder.

Check the camshaft, they often wear out, pretty much the same way like M20 does.
I've never seen a worn camshaft even in 200,000+ mile M30s! Weird...?

I forgot which magazine it was, it might either be Car (european) or Car & Driver, but one of them said that they still consider the E34 to be in the top overall cars of all time because of the solid chassis, great build quality and excellent agility (handling and breaking - the latter was always best in class). I am kind of shocked that someone said that an E30 would be a more solid car... Maybe they meant in terms of reliability because E30s have less electronic gizmos, but in terms of basic build of the chassis, the E34 is the most "solid" car I have ever experienced aside from a 7 series or a Mercedes E or S class. They feel like they are literally carved out of Granite. No squeaks, creaks, groans, rattles, shimmies (except the CAB shimmy, but that is so easy to fix why bother mentioning it...). They are tough as nails, even better built than E28s I think, and my E28 feels absolutely tank like while still managing to be pretty agile! Get a 535i, a 2.5 in a 3500lb car doesn't seem right... If it's an auto problem, either shop around for a used tranny or swap to manual and forget about it!

I want and looked at it. My dad was wrong on the price, it's $695 I think it my shimmy in the front end ;-) . It has a blue leather int, and the wood stuff is comming off of the console but the rest of the int is good with a little ware in the drivers seat. I don't really know what the bondo spots are covering on the car, proboply dents. I got the guys phone # and will call him later, Here is some pics. of it.

                    Offer him $500 cash.

Looks like it's a bit rough, but could be a decent car with the application of some time and $$.

If it runs and drives OK, it's probably worth the asking price. Hard to tell how much damage was done to the front- but it doesn't look bad.

With a bend in the front wheel like that something else was bound to bend too.

Pay $200 and then throw that rear spoiler in the trash .

If you do end up with it I have a whole running parts car for your front end needs .

I just need to hold onto the grill and lights .

How are the mechanicals? Can you PM me some details so we don't jack this thread?
