Brake lights are brand new - check panel is still lit up??

sorry for all of the noob-ness. I'm stuck in the early 70's as far as car tech is concerned. I just switched ALL of my brake lights - but the check panel still lights up for brake light failure. Is there a switch somewhere that is bad or am i running the wrong bulbs?

Does it go away when you hit the brake pedal?

Are you sure you put the right type of bulb in there?

Did you replace the 3rd brake light aswell?

My other thought is - Did you put brass based bulbs in it? You have to use the Stainless based ones like OE or it will throw a signal in the Check Control due to the different resistance.

They are just plain ol sylvania bulbs. I'm pretty sure the are not brass based.
