    Unidentified engine

I went to a junkyard today, and i found a dashboard for my car, (mine is cracked), they have 2 E30's there but there's also an extra engine, they took out of a "5", the guy at the junkyard does not remeber which model, it's a 6 cyl and has 2 carbs, since i have a carbed M10 in my 316, i thought it could be an improvement, he's selling it dirt cheap (because it's carbed) I liked the fact that I could swap that engine and still have a car I can understand (you know, carbs and distributor)

The thing is that the car got there running and he guarantees the engine, but he doesn't know which engine exactly it is.

Does anyone have an idea of which engine this one could be ??

it's probably a carbed m30. Bavarias and some 6's (i think) came with dual downdraft m30 engines of the 2.8 liter variety.

***EDIT - Just noticed that you are not in the US. It could be a few things - but is most likely a carbed m30.

Yeah, it could be a 2.8 or 3.0 M30, the 3.3 (3.2) also came carbed, and a few 3.5 (M90B35s) came carbed as well.

lol, why would you think that? Bimmerhaus Racing's head mechanic has one or two of em, and one has an S38B36 in it! I can imagine by now the electronics are needing some attention, but Bavarias are cool man! Just not as cool as their coupe counterparts...

Carbed M30s are reliable, you just have to adjust them for winter and summer!

btw if he found a carbed M30 in an E3 chassis in Chile, it's not a Bavaria, Bavaria was a US model only.
