Getting ABS to work on my M coupe swap

I’ve never had working ABS on my car (1988 325is) since I bought it do to a bad ABS wheel sensor. Now that I have the new M roadster suspension and brakes installed, I really need to get this activated as the gigantic brakes are more then my tires can keep up with.

In the rear I spliced the M roadster wheel sensor into the E30 harness. This was a simple splice in as both the E30 harness and the M roadster sensors had a black wire and a red wire.

In the front the E30 harness had a black wire and redwire. The M roadster sensors have a black wire, red wire, and a yellow wire.

I spliced red to red and black to black and let the yellow wire disconnected.

Unfortunately, my ABS lights sill comes one after I turn on the car and start to roll forward meaning at least one of my sensors is not working. It’s pretty obvious I need to figure out how to splice in the yellow wire.

    Any ideas?

    Yup, it will not work.....

You need the ABS rings off your old hubs. They have different number of splines on them. Use the STOCK E30 sensors and ABS rings.

Next check all of the sensors, Bentley has the values.

Now my question is, does the ABS light come on before you move the car, or after?

You might also have troubles with the ABS computer or fuses.

The ABS light comes on after I move the car. When I first start the car, the light does not come on until I move.

I've replaced the ABS fuse, relay, and computer with known working parts, so I know it is a sensor.

I first tried fitting the E30 ABS sensors but they did not slide right in. I guess some modification may be necessary.

Good, so you are getting a sensor fault.

Replace the rings and sensors and they will work. and ONLY then will they work. The computer can not read the signal from the newer stuff, it has different pules.
