How good are our cars jacks?

I'm most likely using the jack incorrectly but when i try to use it, the top always wants to scrape against my fenders. Whats the deal?

I worked in cramped space in my garage and find the stock jack to be perfectly fine for lifting the car. Granted I always support the frame with stands once it's lifted. It's a straight up screw jack that provides plenty of mechanical advantage, especially if you use your son to turn the rank ;)

They just don't look that strong. I'm wondering if I should go to the pick n' pull and get like a lexus one or somthing.

Also, its a fuckin stupid ass design.
